Nawaz Sharif Arrest Warrant and Proclamation Challenge: Tosha Khana Reference

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has challenged his arrest warrant and declaration in the Toshakhana reference.

The PML-N leader approached the Islamabad High Court through Barrister Jahangir Jadoon.

The petition filed by Nawaz Sharif said that the order of the accountability court and the order to issue advertisement should be declared null and void in the Tosha Khana reference.

The petition takes the position that NAB wants to silence the voice by targeting the opposition. Nawaz Sharif is not a fugitive but is abroad on bail.

Nawaz Sharif has said that he is undergoing treatment abroad and he should be allowed to face trial through his representative.

The former prime minister also said in the petition that the European Union and Human Rights Watch had also expressed concerns over the NAB's actions.

It may be recalled that in the Toshakhana reference, the accountability court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Nawaz Sharif on June 11.

Proceedings for summoning Nawaz Sharif to the accountability court began on July 7 and then on July 13 a summons notice was pasted outside Nawaz Sharif's residence in Jati Amira.
